General Motors introduced its first model pickup truck during 1930’s. But the term “Silverado” was introduced by them during the times of 1970’s. This designation was used only to represent the high-level smartness of the Chevrolet C/K Pickup trucks. General Motors tried lots of changes in the name of “Sierra” and named them as Sierra, high Sierra, Sierra Grande, and Sierra Classic. This is to discriminate trim levels through 1987. The C/K nomenclature stands for distinguishing the models of Pickup trucks. The nomenclature “C” was used to discriminate trucks having rear-wheel driving from the trucks which have four-wheel driving which are designated by “K” nomenclature. Chevrolet and GMC congested the usage of “K” and “C” nomenclature by 1999.

Basic Changes it took:
Chevy Silverado was said to be the pickup truck possessing lots of options available in them. The trim of these trucks made them stand in a separate position in the market. The changes in the models starting from the birth of Chevy Silverado are concentrated in the engine and equipment. But the differences that are taking place recently in Chevy Silverado are not only regarding engine and equipment but also in the look and comforts of the truck. The redesign of the Chevy Silverado pickup truck during the year 1999 included unusual grilles and interior trim. Extra features like Quadra steer were mingled during this redesign.

Tradition continued for a while:
GMT800 Silverado light pickup trucks came into the market during 1998 where as GMT800 Sierra 1500 is released in the market during 1999. The traditional GMT400 was also in the retailer outlets for the first along with new models of their production. Traditional Heavy-Duty GMT400 existed in the market till 2000 year. After the release of a new model called GMT800 Silverado/Sierra HD during 2001 the old models were completely stopped.

Multitalented Light duty Pickup trucks:
The light duty trucks were available to the customers in different cab lengths like 3 or 4 door extended cab, front hinged 4-door crew cab, 2 door short cab. In these light duty pickup trucks there included a 1999 mm standard box, 1757.7 mm short box and 2479 mm long box. During the first year of production regular cab and 3-door extended cab alone were present in the market. They were present along with Vortec 4300, Vortec 4800 V8 and Vortec 5300 engines in their models.

Changes that took place:
During 2001 year 6.0 Vortec 6000 was introduced for heavy duty models. The engine was rated for 350 hp. The Silverado Z71 got an elective lighter composite box along with a suspension package for towing. But this model lacked high-output engine.

In 2002 the C3 model became “Denali” along with the combination of Quadrasteer. During 2003 General Motors launched modified version of Silverado/sierra in 2003. It has a new look at the front end and some new updated features for the rear end. The specifications of this model were the same as the 2001 year model. It was a 4-wheel steering system that drastically reduced the pickup trucks turning radius and modified its lane charging while towing. General Motors left its Delphi’s Quadrasteer setup after 2005. This happened due to the reduction in the sales of the pickup trucks.
For 2007 year Sierra Denali had only half ton pickup that contained a 6.2 liter, 403 hp and 417 lb-ft of torque united to a six speed transmission.

Chevy Silverado was built during the year 2003 and was the high-performance truck built by the manufacturer Chevrolet. It used 5.3 liter, 285 ho, 325 lb-ft and 6.0 liter Vortec High-output V8 rated at 345 hp, 5200 rpm and 380 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. The engine used in this model resembled the engine used in Cadillac Escalade.
